Coimbatore: The narcotics-cid control bureau caught two people to smuggle 48kg of marijuana on Monday.Nib-Cid Deputy Inspector H Manoharan and the team had intercepted the car in Palladam – Tirupur Road on Monday around 9am after receiving tips.
They found the cannabis bundle worth 4.8 lakh Rs and arrested S Alex, 33, from Annamalai Garden in Mangalam Road in Tirupur District and K Selvam, 41, from Devaram in the Power District.
“Alex and Selvam face cases of marijuana in Theni, Tirupur and other districts.
They bought Oly’s Owned Goods from Visakhapatnam and smuggled them to Theni a week ago.
They plan to distribute it between sellers in the city of Tirupur,” said a police officer.
The duo was ordered below 6 (c) read with 20 (b) (i) (c), 25 and 29 of narcotics narcotics and psychotropic substances, 1985 and returned in judicial detention.
The special team tried to arrest Parotta Mahesh from Thaki, which was the mastermind of smuggling marijuana, Manoharan said.
