Virginia: The earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 hit the South Sandwich Islands area on Sunday, said US Geologic Survey (UGS).
The earthquake gasped at 5:26 (UTC).
The earthquake had a depth of 42.5 km, said the USGS.
“Prelim M5.5 earthquake islands Sandwich South Sep-05 05:26 UTC,” US geologic survey tweeted.
South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI) are British regions abroad in the South Atlantic Ocean.
