HONG KONG: Hong Kong authorities on Thursday morning arrested the primary editor along with four senior executives of this pro-democracy Apple Daily papers beneath the federal safety legislation on suspicion of collusion by a foreign state to undermine national security, according to press reports.
Local press, such as the South China Morning Post and Apple Daily, reported nationwide security authorities detained Apple Daily’s main editor Ryan Law.
Others arrested included Cheung Kim-hung, also the CEO of Next Digital, that functions Apple Daily, in addition to its chief operating officer and other editors.
The authorities said in an announcement Thursday that Hong Kong’s National Security Department had detained five directors of a business to get”suspected contravention” of their federal security legislation.
