Mumbai: The branch of Mumbai police crime has arrested five people, one of which is a teenager, in connection with the “Sextital” racket involved in squeezing people and extorting money from them by threatening to make their Obscene video, an official said Thursday.
The BKC Cyber police station has arrested five defendants after conducting an operation at Nagpur, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha, the official said.
The investigation has revealed that racket members have allegedly extort several people in recent months and make money selling obscene video clips of at least 250 victims of up to 80 people in various countries, he said.
Prima Facie, it was revealed that the defendant used a Nepalese-based bank account for money transactions, which they used to squeeze from victims other than the Bank India account, he said.
The defendant used to create a fake account disguised as a girl on the social media platform and lured the man, which was mostly rich with a high profile background, the official said, added that the defendant created 12 fake accounts and six false e-mail IDs.
While posing as girls on social media, the defendant took the victims of beliefs and insisted on starting obscene video chats, which they then recorded, he said.
They used to squeeze the victim with videos recorded and extort money from them, he said.
