5 crescent cell patients between Covid Vid’s death in 5 days

Nagpur: Among the incidental findings calculated as Covid-19 deaths in Vidarbha in the last five days, five are cell sickle patients (SCD) between 10 and 35 years old.
A 10-year-old boy died at Mayo Nagpur Hospital, a 30-year-old young man in Nagpur, a 28-year-old girl at Gadchiroli, a 35-year-old man in the Gondia and a 29-year-old man in Akola.
A three-month-old baby who died in Buldhana on Wednesday was also reported to have sickle cells, along with other complications, but the authorities could not confirm.
The doctor told TII that SCD people were at risk of hospitalization four times greater and had doubled from dying from Covid-19.
Even those who only carry a copy of the crescent cell gen (operator status for sickle cell disease) seems to be high risk.
Crescent cells are the main health problems in Vidarbha.
Apart from all steps, the prevalence of crescent cells in Central India is 22-44%.
Most affected patients come from lower socio-economic backgrounds have financial problems.
“We constantly asked the authorities to consider Cickle cell patients as an exception and allow vaccination of all patients, regardless of age group,” said Dr.
Vinky Rughwani, the founding president of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Center which is also the vice president of Maharashtra.
Medical Council (MMC).
Gautam Dongre, National Secretary of the Crescent Cell Alliance (NASCO), underlines the need to treat sickle patients separately if they need hospitalization for any purpose.
“Someone who suffers from sickle cell disease will look like normal patients but organ damage and infection occurred in a very short time.
They have less time in hand compared to normal patients.
Our request is to have screening and separate entrance tickets for sickle patients, “He said.
Dongre Rued that sickle cell patients “suffered due to negligence of authority and researchers”.
“Until now, we have no certain national level death documentation because of sickle cells.
In fact, we still have to rely on the 20-year-old data there with the NHM authority,” he said.
He also said that only two SCD patients had a disability certificate in the last five months in Nagpur.
The only grip cell testing facility in GMCH does not work since lasting months.
“Pandemic Covid-19 has created a major health problem for sickle cell patients.
Even during the second wave, many patients died at a very young age but almost no documentation.
In the third wave, because the number of deaths is less, we are increasingly worried about these patients,” said Dr.
Kshitij Suryawanshi that itself is a sickle patient.
