5 Dead in Incident Related to Rain: Minister of TN

Chennai: Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management of KKSR Ramachandran on Tuesday said five people died in the incident related to rain in the district in Madurai and Chennai in the last 24 hours.
Also, 64 livestock deaths are reported from various parts of the country.
Heavy rain was triggered by northeastern Monsoon damaging 504 partial cottages and 34 full cottages, and 125 houses were partially and 4 four houses fully.
“Four helicopters at the tendril air force station, five Dornier planes and two naval helicopters are ready to be sent to the required place.
Fire and rescue services, Tim SDRF and NDRF are also ready for search and assistance operations,” Minister said.
Head of Secretary / Commissioner Administration Additional Revenue K Phanindra Reddy held a detailed review on Monday with representatives of the Indian Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, NDRF, Fire and Rescue Services and SDRF in the steps to be taken during emergency.
The government appoints officers and nodal coordinators for larger Chennai and Chengalpet Corporation.
Twelve senior IPS officers also became extra to monitor officers in each district to rescue and operate aid.
Given the increased level of water storage in the reservoir, the Department of Water Resources released 20,000 cusecs (cubic feet per second) from Mettur, 10,000 cusecs from Bhavanisagar and 569 Cusecs from Vaigai Dam.
It also released 4,054 Cusecs from Poondi, 1,200 Cusecs from Sholavaram, 2,145 Cusec from Red Hills, 2,104 from Chembarambakkam, Chennai Drinking Water Reservoir.
Ramachandran said that 2,649 people have been accommodated in 75 government aid centers in Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Perambal, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai and Villupuram and provide food, drugs, and other basic needs.
The Greater Chennai Corporation accommodates 1,343 in 169 assistance centers and distributes 9.12 lakh food packages for those in need.
It also conducts 205 medical camps that benefit 8,546 people.
It has also set 43 ships, 46 earth drivers and 325 high power pump sets to evacuate people and remove water.
On a safe fisherman return, the minister said most ships traveled to the sea to fish in the sea in return.
But 45 ships haven’t returned.
About 250 fishermen in 45 of these vessels have been intimidated by officials about sea conditions.
While 23 ships will reach the Nizampatnam fishing port in Andhra Pradesh and 22 ships to Tamil Nadu beach on Tuesday night.
