SHILLONG/SILCHAR: five employees are feared trapped at an 500-feet-deep left coal mine from the Umpleng region of Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district, authorities said on Monday.
The incident came to light after a Karimul Bari of Assam’s Cachar district reported on the Assam Police that among his acquaintances was one of the miners feared trapped inside the coal mine accident which happened on Sunday night.
A Meghalaya Police statement stated,”According to data obtained from SP (Cachar) roughly six mine employees being trapped at a coal mine at East Jaintia Hills on Sundaythe district authorities could determine the probable place of the episode at 6 am on Monday.
” The missing men have been recognized as Anwarul Haque Barbhuiya of all Katigorah at Cachar district, Abdul Sukkur by Barthal close Badarpur at Karimganj district, Abdul Karim by Boko,” Abdul Kalam by Barpeta and Shyamcharan Debbarma out of Tripura.
All these are aged between 20 and 35 decades, sources said.
The Meghalaya government has led the deputy commissioner of both East Jaintia Hills district, E Kharmlaki, to institute a magisterial inquiry into the accident and document an FIR against people is involved.
Added deputy commissioner of both East Jaintia Hills Malthus Sangma may go the question.
“We obtained information about a few miners being trapped at a coal mine by your Cachar Police.
Nobody has educated us about people lacking.
But we took serious notice of this incident and led at the East Jaintia Hills authorities to confirm that it,” Kharmalki stated.
Kharmalki added the State Disaster and Relief Force was hurried to the place and rescue job began on Monday.
But it needed to stopped because of inclement weather.
Quoting eyewitnesses, SP (East Jaintia Hills) JS Dhanoa stated,”Because of some surprising dynamite explosion, five men caught trapped into the mine when water gushed in overwhelmed the place right away.
” The authorities have identified the director of the mineNizam Ali, since the”primary culprit who did nothing to save the trapped labourers.
” Meghalaya house minister Lahkmen Rymbui reported the injury had happened in an abandoned mine possessed by K Chyrmang that has been arrested for questioning.
“Police are on a manhunt to nab Ali to find the specifics,” he further added.
The most recent mine disaster is somewhat like this 2018 Ksan coal mining accident at the East Jaintia Hills where over 17 miners drowned.
