Bengaluru: About 3.25kg alprazolam, medicine pyschotropic and anti-depression, has been confiscated in Hyderabad of five people and Rs 12.75 lakh cash recovered from them, said the narcotics control bureau on Sunday.
NCB said that based on certain intelligence, the Joint Team of the NCB NCB Unit Bengaluru and the Hyderabad sub-zone intercepted two cars on Saturday near the grand ujwala in Medak – Hyderabad Road, arrested four people and recovered drugs from them.
NCB says one of them, Sudhakar, is a supplier and manufacturer and one more, Naresh, the recipient.
The four are questioned and it leads to digging the clandestine laboratory at Sudhakar’s house in the Balanagar housing area, where Alprazolam raw at various stages of manufacturing is found in labs such as pumpkins, reactors and dryers.
Medication and a large number of raw materials are confiscated.
NCB also diges other clandestine labs in a side by side.
Bureau said the defendant had bought a new and drier reactor to expand their facilities.
It was said that the fifth member of the gang had obtained a license to produce original medical formulations on behalf of the company, but misused this facility for making Clandestine from Alprazolam.
“This syndicate operates for more than five years in making alprazolam.
They are used to produce Alprazolam in batches of four to five kg and sell them to various groups in Hyderabad,” NCB said in a statement.
Noting that the illegal manufacture and trade in Alprazolam Human Trafficking in Telangana is the cause of concern for law enforcement agencies, NCB said Alprazolam was a psychotropic substance belonging to the Benzodiazepin class, which was anti-depressant.
“However, the same thing is mostly traded illegally for the use of recreation throughout the world.
In the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Alprazolam is widely used as a cutting agent for forbidden toddy.
