NEW DELHI: Five individuals were detained after a raid in a unauthorised restaurant-cum-bar in east Delhi’s Preet Vihar for supposedly organising a celebration in breach of Covid-19 instructions and serving liquor to underage individuals, officials said Sunday.
This was joint surgery carried on Saturday by district officials headed to the sub-divisional magistrate of Preet Vihar along with a police staff below the local station house officer,” they said.
The officers said that the hookah celebration was underway in the institution once the raid happened.
Authorities said the eatery, known as Scon King Café and Restaurant, was situated to the first floor of this DDA Complex in the New Rajdhani Enclave.
The area had been sealed and its proprietor is one of those detained, they included.
The officials stated penalties were levied and a thorough enquiry was ordered.
According to the authorities, the area has been operating without a valid license and it was found to be violating Covid protocols.
A case was filed under sections 188 (disobedience of order duly promulgated by people slave ), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) of Indian Penal Code and the Epidemic Diseases Act in the Preet Vihar police station, a senior police officer stated.
