Thane: As many as five people including three children under two governors at Gholai Nagar’s slum house in Kalwa died after they were trapped under a large landslide who slid from the slopes of Parsik Hill after heavy rains in the area on Monday afternoon.
The other two fled with injuries.
According to city officials, the incident was reported at around 1pm when mud accumulated along the slope slipped and rushed along a natural river and soaked the hut standing near.
A total of four huts at the top level of a group of cottages were influenced by bad.
Seven residents of two huts were really buried, trapping inner occupants while those from the others rushed to hear a big voice.
Santosh Kadam, head in the regional disaster management cell told that all the deceased came from the Yadav family who lived in one of the huts that were truly buried in the mud.
The deceased has been identified as Prabhu Yadav, his wife Vidyawati, and three children aged three to 12 years.
Local activists arvind more, who were in the area said they heard a voice and rushed uphill and horror them, found the hut sank and immediately saved them trapped.
What was injured immediately shifted to the local Kalwa Hospital.
Cabinet Minister and Mla Jitendra Awahad who represented the area said he had followed up on the problem with the Ministry of Forestry to eliminate illegal properties that have emerged on stretching.
