Gurgaon: Five members of two different vehicle lifting gangs were captured by the Crime of Sector 17 branch on Monday.
They have been identified as Mohit (37), Sachin (21) Gaurav (21) from one gang and Wasim (19) and Atul (21) from other gangs.
Mohit, Sachin and Gaurav were arrested from IFFCO Chowk, while the other two were arrested from Jharsa.
According to the police, the two gangs were involved in more than a dozen cases of vehicle theft in the city.
Among them, they had stolen 12 motorbikes, six scooters and one automatic pedicab, said an officer.
“They will steal vehicles and then sell them in the former market,” said ACP (crime) Pal Singh.
After interrogation, the first gang member revealed that their main leader was Mohit, who had been arrested and sent to prison several times in the past for theft and other crimes.
The gang has stolen a vehicle since 2018.
Their last case was registered in the 10 police station sector for theft earlier this year.
The second gang stole a automatic pedicab and used it for passenger ferries in the conscious area.
The police recovered one automatic pedicab and two motorbikes from them.
