Pune: Five of the seven Covid-19 patients in Pune, who were previously detected with Omicron, the new variant of Coronavirus, has now been tested negatively for infection, Deputy Minister of Deputy Maharashtra Ajit Pawar said on Friday.
Four of the six patients from the Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial municipal area and a patient from Pune City had been tested negatively for viral infections, Pawar told reporters after a weekly review meeting on the Covid-19 situation in the district.
“The health of the seven patients is good.
Four of the six omicron patients in Pimpri-Chinchwad and a patient in the city of Pune had been tested negatively,” said Pawar, who is also the Minister of Guardian District.
These seven people, including a NRI woman and her two daughters from Nigeria, had been tested positive for Omicron in Pune last week.
They are accepted for maintenance at city-based hospitals and their latest tests come out negatively.
New tension, found in Africa last month, has been classified as a ‘variant of worries’ by WHO.
Pomar further said that 100 percent of the eligible population in the district had been covered with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, and more than 1.38 crore shots so far.
The rate of vaccination has increased in the district in the last 10 days, the Minister said.
“It is true that people are somewhat reluctant to take the second dose, but now after the latest developments (Omicron), the vaccination rate has increased and the queue is being witnessed outside the vaccination center,” said Pawar, adding focus needs in rural areas.
“Doctors in the task force (state) (in Covid-19) have suggested that we must provide the first second dose and if we become successful in that, the situation will be good,” he said.
The state government has received a list of more than 4,500 passengers traveling to Pune District from abroad, said Pawar.
“Active search for this passenger.
Passengers are contacted, their information related to their health is being recorded,” he said.
At present, the level of covid-19 in the corporate limit of Pune and Pune Rural City is 1.4 percent, while in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, which is 0.7 percent, added pawar.
