Patna: Overall six people, including five relatives of Bollywood actors Singh Rajput, died and four others were injured in an accident when they returned to Jatui after cremating family members, Geta Devi (70), on Patna on Tuesday.
Geeta is a sister of Haryana Police Adg OP Singh, who is a sushant brother-in-law.
Those who died in the accident were included by Geeta Laljit Singh’s husband (75), two of his sons Amit Shekhar Singh aka Nomani Singh (52) and Ramchandra Singh (37), Putri Baby Devi (42), Daisy Devi’s nephew (40) and Pritam Kumar driver Singh (29).
The accident took place at the NH-333a near Pipra Village under the Hissi Police Station area in the LakhiCarai district around 6am when their SUV collided with a truck loaded with an empty LPG cylinder, police said.
Truck drivers and co-drivers fled.
The Hidsi Police Station Sho Awadhesh Kumar said Laljit belonged to Bhandra Village under the Khaira Police Station while his baby’s daughter came from Malaypur, Daisy’s nephew from Ratpur under Sonpeh’s Giddhaur and Pritam police station in all districts.
Sho said the injury Balmiki Singh (60) and his son Prashant Kumar aka Tonu (24) from Nawadih, Balmukund Singh (60) and his son Dilkhush Singh (23) from Chauhehush Singh under the Khira Police region was referred to Patna for treatment.
“Balmiki is Amit’s father-in-law.
Balmukund is Laljit’s brother-in-law.
Daisy is his daughter,” he said.
Sho said Geeta had died in Patna in medicine.
“They returned to Jatui after cremating him in Bans Ghat on Patna,” he said.
He said the SUV where the whole family traveled had vomited up to two bodies, including from the driver, still stuck in more than one hour.
Lakhisarai SP Sushil Kumar, who received a call from Haryana ADG after the accident, said the SUV was overloaded and eyewitnesses said it at high speed.
He said NH was a single lane where the accident occurred.
“Either the driver fell asleep or he failed to control the vehicle because of high speed and hit a truck,” SP said.
Nephew Laljit Sujaan Singh submitted a quarter against an unknown truck driver in connection with death, police said.
