Pune: Five people died after their car crashed into a container truck at Pune-Mumbai Expressway near Lonavala on Sunday morning.
The accident took place in ShilaTane Village, about 55 km from Pune.
The victims were rushed to the nearest hospital.
“Their identity is confirmed,” said an officer from Lonavla’s rural police.
The accident caused the main traffic congestion in the Mumbai bound corridor from the toll road.
“The car headed to Pune from Mumbai.
After crossing Karla Phata, it destroyed the divider.
Because of high speed, the car jumped over the divider and crashed into a container truck,” the officer said.
