Shimla: Diwali celebration for a family turned to grief after an alleged Leopard took a 5-year-old boy from outside his home in the downdale area in the city of Shimla on Thursday night.
While families and locals are afraid that children are taken away by leopards, wildlife officials who have launched a search operation in the area along with the police so far have not found evidence that shows that children are carried by leopards or other wild animals.
The incident created panic in the city while family members were in-depth shock.
In the past 3 months, this is the second incident reported in Shimla.
Division Forest Officer (Wildlife), Shimla, N Ravishankar said that around 11pm on Thursday a fast rescue team (RRT) from the Forestry Department received a call from the police station about the incident.
He said that the lost child family had told the police.
He said that in receiving information on search operations was launched in a side by side, so far lost has not been found evidence about the involvement of wild animals has been found.
He said that the search continued all night and day and still lit.
The lost boy was identified as Yog Raj (5) who played with his younger brother outside the house at the time of the incident.
