Chandigarh: Even when students start hanging e-learning during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the online education system has many things to do, especially in rural areas of Punjab.
Depending on the availability of IT infrastructure, both online and offline study modes have been received by students and there is a need to achieve a balance between them, according to research conducted by researchers from Punjab.
To examine the perceptions and level of transitional acceptance from offline to online learning among higher education students in Punjab, a survey conducted in various regions in the state of which 200 government students and institutions assisted by the government.
Nearly half of participants receive online mode, while the other half does not support new systems, especially because of network problems, lack of motivation and less interaction between teachers and students.
According to findings, direct video conferencing is the most preferred teaching tool with 37% using it for online teaching, while 31% use online teaching applications, 10% use social media without streaming, while 7% use e-learning platforms, and 5% use recordings Audio.
When laptops / computers are considered important for online education, only 6% of participants use personal laptops / computers for classes, while the majority of 94% of students use smartphones to attend their classes.
On the basis of feedback provided by students, experts recommend that students must be trained about the use of various e-learning modes available.
To motivate students to be interested in online learning during the Covid period, the teacher has been advised to build personal relationships with them.
Students must also be encouraged to actively participate in the e-learning process, by giving them the opportunity to share their opinions.
Studies conducted by Ishu Chadda from Punjab School of Economics, Teacher Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; And HardeeP Kaur Department of Commerce, RR Bring Dav College for women, Batala, concluded: “The online process given by education is equipped with many advantages but facilitating regular teaching modes is not completely replaced in punjab.” There is a need to adopt the system and also corrective measures must be taken to overcome the online and offline educational mode barriers.
