CHENNAI: The state government on Thursday chose six statements to commemorate the 98th birth anniversary of former chief minister M Karunanidhi, such as building of a 500-bed multi super-specialty clinic at the premises of King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research at Guindy in a price of Rs 250 crore.
On the traces of Kalaimamani awards for excellence in performing arts and literature, the authorities declared’Ilakkiya Mamani’ awards for several Tamil authors each year.
The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh and a citation.

Since farmers have losses as a result of improper drying of foodgrain, the state government would also install 50 open drying yards from 10 blocks of the district at a price of Rs 5 crore, recirculating batch baits in Kottur along with Valangaiman cubes at Rs 60 lakh, constant flow dryers at Needamangalam and Mannargudi cubes at Rs 60 lakh.
