500g Sandalwood is confiscated, the duo is held in Mysore

MySuru: In what was seen as a major breakthrough in the investigation of the sandalwood smuggling racket in MySuru District, City Police on Monday arrested two individuals, and 700kg sandalwood was confiscated from the duo.
A police officer said that it was a ‘big catch’.
One of those arrested on Monday was a native of Kerala.
A police officer said, “These years, we only caught criminals that cut down trees, and were involved in carrying it.
We never took a very big sandalwood cache before.” Acting on a tip-off, the police forbade road vehicles carrying sandalwood .
The two people in the vehicle were arrested at an intersection near the Polakeshi road, fell from the jurisdiction of the police station.
The police said that the two individual Nabbeds were in their 20s – one of them came from Mangaluru, while others came from Kerala.
“They have kept sandalwood, each weighing around 500g to 3,000g, in the hidden space in the vehicle,” police said.
This duo transports sandalwood from Mysuru to Bengaluru, when the detective branch of the city crime is walking.
The police have not confirmed the scope of the operation, and other individuals involved in the same.
A statement released to the press by the Commissioner of the City of Mysuru Pegs worth of loot confiscated at Rs 1 Crore, with each log is estimated to cost Rs 26,500.
