Mumbai: A 53-year-old man who underwent a psychiatric treatment, allegedly ended his life by cutting his neck at his residence in Bora Street near Brazi Bazar on Friday afternoon, police said.
Police JJ Marg said the deceased Shakeel Qureshi was taken to Saboo Siddik Hospital for care where the doctors claimed to die before entering.
The hospital authority told the police about it.
A police team visited the second floor of Qureshi’s residence for an investigation.
During interrogation, the family told the police that Qureshi was undergoing psychiatric treatment.
He reportedly suffered from depression too.
According to his family, Qureshi went to the bathroom at around 15:30 a.m.
on Friday and stabbed him in the neck.
There were no other injuries found in the body except the neck, police said.
The body was sent to the JJ Hospital for Post Mortem.
During Panchnama, the knife used by Qureshi and blood samples found at the collected place, added the police.
Cases of unintentional deaths have been registered.
