Mumbai: In a period of more than a month because vaccination for teenagers began in this country, Maharashtra has covered 54% of the 60.7 children aged between 15-18 with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Look closer, though, revealing smaller districts such as Bhandara, Kolhapur and Sangli are at the forefront of vaccination of this age group with more than 70% of single dose coverage.
Cities like Mumbai, Thane, Nashik and Pune lag.
Mumbai has so far covered only 46% of adolescent populations that meet the conditions with a single dose differently with Bhandara, which includes 77% of the pond.
The average state for full vaccination in further age groups fell to 12%, with Mumbai along with 23 districts far behind the country’s average, mostly in one digit.
The district that has done better said they have benefited from their initial efforts to advise the masses of the importance of vaccination.
Also, several districts held a vaccination camp in educational institutions to record a large number of students.
Bhandara District Civil Surgery Dr.
Riyaz Ahmed Farooqui told TII they benefited from previous efforts to convince and eliminate doubts of the elders.
“Kadam Sandeep District collector and I will visit villages that have poor vaccination coverage.
Once the elders avoid hesitation vaccines, they are fast in getting 15-plus children staggering when the drive starts,” he said.
He further said, “Educational officers were asked to mobilize all students who qualified.
