Thrissur: As many as 39 MBBS students from the Medical College of Thrissur and 17 students from Dental College have been tested positive for Covid-19.
Some PG students and home surgeons on campus have also been tested positively.
Sajeevan (43), manager of Indian Coffee House (ICH), which is located on the Medical College campus, died when he was in care for Covid.
There are reports that six other staff at ICH have also tested positive.
Dr.
Lola, the principal, said the mass testing drive was carried out immediately after the infection report among students appeared.
Students who do not have a test are asked to immediately return home.
Among the three batch students who are testing now, eight students have been tested positively.
De Lola revealed that all students who had tested positively took both vaccine doses.
“No student in the last year’s batch has tested positive so far,” he said, adding that among the freshensers, only one student had tested positive.
Dr.
Raveendran, the connecting medical hospital, said some patients underwent hospital treatment have also been tested positive in the postoperative phase.
He said the entry of visitors to medical colleges would be limited after rising in cases.
