6.5Cr-yr fossils found in Sitagondi Forest Fairabad

Hyderabad: After the findings of the recent Gastropod fossils, historical fans found similar fossils in the Sitagondi forest in Gadihatnur from the Adilabad district.
This site borders the National Highway Connecting Adilabad to Hyderabad and is located 100 km from Ginnedari.
Hundreds of shelter shells were found in a dense wooden area in Sitagondi from Mekalagandi.
Venugopal REDDY of Adilabad’s B Venugopal Fans, Kothha Telangana Charitra Group, found these fossils.
Sriramoju Haragopal from the group said this was the age of 6.5 crore.
“This includes snails, oysters, leaves and parts of plants and microscopic fossils such as charophytes and ostropod.
The Gadihatnur area is said to be rich in fossils.
Mentioned in Indian geological records,” he said.
Haragopal demanded the government to work on further discovery.
Fossils are also confirmed by experts.
Former Deputy Director of GSI General Chakilam Venugopal Rao said he had visited the area a few years ago.
Sitagondi forest is part of the DECCAN volcanic province which is mostly in Maharashtra and regions side by side with Telangana.
“Because of the flow of lava, the sediment layer is formed.
This happened 65 million years ago.
In general, fresh water is trapped in the layer,” he said.
Venugopal Rao said the fossil fragment was clearly seen here.
“They bivavalves may belong to the genus unio.
This is from the interbrappe bed that occurs as a thin sediment flanked between the flow of lava.
Dr.
Yadagiri reported the dinosaur bone from the bed of the intertrappe in near Asifabad,” he said.
Hundreds of lime shells were found in a dense wooded area.
The history of B Venugopal Reddy of Adilabad, a member of Kothha Telangana Charitra Group, found these fossils
