Madurai: Health officials are a tightening step to control and manage the spread of Covid-19 because the number of active cases in Madurai Regency has reached 3,480 on Saturday.
Six active detention zones have been established in rural and urban areas in Madurai.
However, oxygen requirements and hospitalization for Covid-19 patients remain low and only about 10% of beds in the tertiary care center are filled.
Health officials observed a few days ago that there was no cluster in Madurai and spread most of the sporadis.
But now, there are a total of six active detention zones.
“In rural areas, there are three detention zones, each in Paravai, Oomatchikulam and Other Area.
At present, there are more cases in the fields below the city limits compared to the countryside.
However, there is always a possible deployment of the movement of people.
With celebration Pongal takes place, there is a need to be vigilant, “said an official.
Three other detention zones are in the city of Madurai.
More than 200 fever camps are carried out every day in all districts and all primary health centers collect samples from them with symptoms of diseases such as influenza (ILI).
Random samples are also collected from public places that are busy like the market.
The level of participants in Madurai is at 8.2% on Friday with around 7,000-8,000 samples tested per day.
Officials also monitor hospital beds and the need for oxygen to ensure sufficient availability.
As on Saturday, of 3,813 hospital beds allocated for Covid-19 patients in Madurai, 394 were occupied.
These include 25 ICU beds from 665 beds allocated.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 safety norms such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance continues to cross the district.
This was largely witnessed during the pongal celebration and Jallikattu event.
At Jallikattu events held at Palamedu and Avaniyapuram, many of the people, despite police efforts, roaming inside and around the venue in the group without following safety norms.
