Kolhapur: The administration of Kolhapur Regency has improved searches, testing and care in the area where six Covid-19 patients were detected with Delta Plus variants.
The genome sequencing report from the swab sample sent in July was received on Sunday.
All patients have recovered.
Yogesh Sale District Health Officer said, “Three patients came from the city of Kolhapur and the remaining three came from the district rural part.
Since March, we send 100 randomly selected samples for genome sequencing every month.
We have conducted contacts, testing, isolation and treatment for this patient.
“Sale said that five of the six patients had received the first dose of vaccination and one was not vaccinated.
One patient must be hospitalized and need oxygen.
Kolhapur authorities say that patients who must be placed on oxygen support are 62 years and have co-morbidity.
He has also recovered.
“There is no difference in symptoms or treatment.
No need to panic.
We have observed that the new variant seems to spread rapidly but has fewer death rates,” Sales said.
With six new cases, the total Delta + case in Kolhapur has risen to seven.
One patient has recovered in April.
So far, 76 Delta + cases have been detected in Maharashtra.
The health authority said that 80% of samples sent for sequencing genomes reported the Delta variant.
