Medininagar: Six workers, including three women, was killed and 18 others were injured in a head-on collision between Van Pickup and a truck in Harihganj in the Palamu Jharkhand district on Friday, said an official said.
The incident happened at night when the workers, who were from the pkek in Palamu, returned to their village after harvesting rice in Sihudi Village in neighboring Bihar, the official said.
Block Development Officer Harihargaj Jaiprakash Narayan, who reached the accident site, said three workers died in place and three others, all women died during treatment at Aurangabad Bihar.
Harihiharganj police station responsible for allegations Sudama Kumar Das said 12 workers were being treated at the Public Health Center HarriJarganj.
Six other workers who suffered serious injuries have been sent to Medinirai Medical College and hospitals for better care.
The death toll could increase, he said, adding that the accident occurred on National Highway 98.
