Chennai: Tambaram, Kancheepuram, Kanchakonam, Karur, Cuddalore and Sivakasi will be enhanced to the company by combining the advanced areas of their adjacent, the administrative minister of the city of K Nehru on Tuesday told the Tamil Nadu assembly on Tuesday.
Tambaram Municipality will be enhanced to become a company by annexing Pallavaram, Chembakkam, Pammal, and ChildrenAputhur and the areas approached, the minister announced while replying to the debate demand for grants from the City Administration Department.
The government’s decision will take the number of corporate cities in the state to 21 of 15.
The minister also announced that Trichy companies, Nagercil, Thanjavur and Hosur and Chengalpet, Poonamallee and Manaarkudi will be expanded by combining advanced areas with them.
PALLAPTI, THITTAKUDI, MANGADU, Kundrathur, Nandhivaram, Guduvanchery, Ponneri, Thiruninravur, Sholingar, Idanganasalai, Taramangalam, ThirmahuruPoondi, Gudalur, Karamadati, Karumathurpatti, Madhukarai, Vadalur, Kottakupam, Thirukovilur, Ulundpet, Adhirampattinam, Manamadurai, Surandai, Kalakadu, Thiruchendur, KOLLANDODE, MULSIRI and LalGudi Town Panchayats will be enhanced to the city, the Minister said.
Pugalur Municipality will be made by exemplifying Punjaipugalur and TNPL Pugalur Panchayats, he added.
