Gurgaon: New Covid cases in the city soared from 1,450 to 2,338 on Sundays – a surge of more than 60% in 24 hours.
The last time many people tested positive in one day was in the mid-second wave on May 14 last year, when 2,144 cases were recorded in the city.
Gurgaon, so far, has added less than 2,000 cases in it a surge in the current pandemic.
However, a sharp surge in cases also pushed the level of participants to jump from 5% at 1 to 20.6% on Sundays.
Testing has also increased.
On Sunday, 11,296 samples were collected for tests.
The number of active cases now stands at 8,473, where 55 patients are in the hospital.
However, officials warned that the number of inpatients had increased late.
“We witnessed an increase in hospitalization, but most patients did not show severe symptoms.
These patients were not in the ICU or on ventilators.
Some of them supported oxygen.
The majority of patients aged over 60 years,” said Virender Yadav, Head of Medical Head .
However, saying that people should not fall in love with the general narrative that the current wave is relatively lighter than the previous two.
They explained that because most patients remained fine for the first few days and tended to be critical – if at all – after almost a week, hospitalization might see a surge later.
“At present, patients come with mild symptoms.
The symptoms are moderate for the first two or three days, so we have seen patients with severe headaches, body pain and extreme weakness.
This unique feature is a high-quality fever with colds.
Feeling very cold.
They took five to six blankets to sleep and still shivered.
This is something we haven’t witnessed before, “said Dr.
Shuchin Bajaj, founder of Ujala Cygnus Group of Hospitals.haryana, meanwhile, reported 5,166 new cases.
While Gurgaon registered the highest case in the state, Faridabad was second in the list with 878 cases, followed by Ambala (420), Panchkula (418) and Rohtak (158).
At present, the country has 18,298 active patients, of which 13,223 are in house isolation.
It has conducted 41,109 tests in the last 24 hours and the level of participants was at 10.6%.
