Ahmedabad: More than 60 people suffered injuries in a flying kite accident in the first few hours of Uttarayan’s celebration in Gujarat on Friday, said an official.
Until 12pm, the emergency ambulance service “108” shifted 63 people, most of the commuters on the road, to the nearest hospital after they supported the wound in the throat and their faces because of the string of dangerous hanging kites in public places, it was stated.
No deaths reported in the flying kite crash so far during the day, the official said.
In accordance with the release issued by an ambulance service, of the 63 people injured by the kite string, 21 cases reported from Ahmedabad only, followed by seven each of the Vadodara and Rajkot districts.
Overall, the ambulance service “108” received 1,203 emergency calls until noon, which was higher than a matter of last year from 1,043 calls, it was stated.
Apart from the injury caused by string kites, 69 people throughout the country also fell from their terrace or from a height, mostly while flying or capturing kites, the release said.
