Aurangabad: At least 600 km of roads and more than 200 buildings under the jurisdiction of Zilla Parishad in Aurangabad Maharashtra has been damaged due to heavy rainfall which beat the district for the past two days, an official said on Thursday.
As a statement issued by the CEO of Zilla Parishad Nilesh Gatne, heavy rain on September 7 and 8 has damaged several roads, lakes, buildings and water supply schemes.
At least 242 structures, including 144 grams of Panchayat buildings, were damaged, which was a loss of Rs 29.04 Crore, while the water supply scheme in Nagad, Saiigavhan, Debhegaon Village and Karanjkhed in Kannad Taluka had witnessed a loss of Rs 17.50 Lakh, was stated.
The assessment of losses has revealed that 643 km of road damaged due to rain and floods, and more than RS 9 Crore will be needed for immediate improvement, the release said.
The total losses arising from heavy rains in the rural Aurangabad are estimated at RS 245 Crore, stated.
According to the NDRF guideline, Rs 8.60 Crore will be considered as compensation for losses, said an official.
According to officials, Aurangabad has received 702 mm rain so far this monsoon, which is 120 percent of the average annual rainfall.
