New Orleans: Three Thousands of False Eyelashes have been confiscated by US customs and border protection agents after officials determine them illegally imported from China to New Orleans.
Four long eyelash box seized Tuesday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport destined for local beauty supply stores, spokesman for Agency Matthew Dyman said in a statement.
They have not been approved by Federal Food and Drug Administration and are not labeled with the name of the distributor or name of the manufacturer, he said.
That means there is no way to find out whether the eyelashes have been exposed to the disease during the creation or whether they are stored properly and kept away from insect areas, Dyman tells the Times-Picayaune / Advocate New Orleans.
“Nobody tells what is in this eyelashes,” he said.
False eyelashes can be made of synthetic and attached to using adhesives, and unregulated or dangerous materials can cause allergic reactions, eye irritation or worse, said Dyman.
There is no business or individual quoted, the newspaper reported.
Fake lashes that are not labeled, not approved FDA are often confiscated in New Orleans but officials say this delivery “is very large,” TV wvue reported.
