Vadodara: The city and district are listed as other large surges with 606 fresh cases on Tuesday.
The number of active cases has now passed 2,000.
The number of positive cases detected on one day crossed the registered number on May 26 last year.
On May 26 last year, the city and district registered 575 cases from 9,521 tests.
On Tuesday, new cases were detected from 10,061 tests carried out in 24 hours ending on Tuesday night.
New cases are spread quite evenly throughout the city on Tuesday.
These include 143 of the Western Zone, 138 of the South Zone, 137 from the north and 133 from the east.
The district area outside the city limits registered 55 cases.
The active case now stands at 2,080 including 141 people who are hospitalized even like the others in house isolation.
The number of serious patients on the ventilator also increased with eight people about the ventilator or bipap engine against five on Monday.
17 others are in the ICU without ventilation devices and other 55 requires oxygen support.
Sixty-one patients are accepted but only have mild symptoms.
