Pune: The damage dam area that supplies water to Pune has recorded good rainfall in the past few days.
Bendi Panghet and Vasaragaon received 60mm rainfall until Monday morning while Tighar Dam recorded 50mm rain in 24 hours ended on Monday morning.
The Temghar Dam has received rainfall of more than 770mm since June 1, while Panghet and Varasgaon each recorded around 530mm and 550mm rainfall, according to data issued by the State Irrigation Department.
The three dam accept rainfall of more than 2000mm in the rainy season.
The water level in the dam tends to rise with increased rainfall activity in the catchment area.
Officials in the irrigation department said they monitored water content in all dams every day.
Stock water in Panphet increased to 42 percent on Monday while stock in Varasgan reached 31%.
Storage in Tanghar is 21 percent of the total capacity of 3.15 TMC, officials said.
Panghet has a maximum water storage capacity of 10.65 TMC while Varasgaon’s livestock capacity is 12.82 TMC.
The irrigation department said that the two dams also released water for plants in the rural part of Pune District.
