Coimbatore: A total of 6,192 employees will be deployed to carry out elections to Coimbatore City Corporation, said Commissioner Corporation King Gopal Sunkara on Friday.
He spoke after holding a meeting with representatives of political parties to tell them about the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission.
“All steps are being carried out to carry out urban local agencies in a fair and transparent way,” King Gopal Sunkara said.
He said 6,192 employees for election work included 1,032 backup power considering the ongoing pandemic.
Fifteen flying squad teams have been formed to examine violations of selection rules, standard Covid-19 operating procedures and voters bribed.
They will be available all the time.
Complaints received from the public through the control room established in the main building Corporation will be forwarded to the team.
“Flying team members have been asked to take strict action on violations.
In the event that there is a violation of the appropriate Covid-19 behavior, the team has been ordered to order violators under the IPC Part 188 and disaster management laws.
The team is deployed from today and so on , “he said.
He said that according to the census conducted in 2011 and restrictions were carried out in 2018, fifty wards had been allocated for women including five wards for the scheduled caste and 50 wards allocated for the general category including providing the environment for the scheduled caste.
There will be 1,290 polling booths in 32 voting stations.
Of the 1,290 booth, 169 has been identified as sensitive by city police.
Additional facilities such as streaming web will be carried out on sensitive, commissioner said.
A total of 15, 61, 819 voters included 7.81, 379 women and 297 third gender voters were in the city.
1,548 control units and 3,612 voting machines will be used for polls.
A total of 105 zonal teams have been formed.
