Panaji: With each election passing, the role of money and muscle strength has grown in Goa’s politics, and this is evident from the fact that 62% of the 301 candidates fight in assembly constituencies are crorepatis, while 26% have criminal records, according to the analysis by the association for reform Democrats (ADR).
Of the 301 candidates, 77, or 26%, face criminal charges.
In 2017, 15% of candidates had criminal cases registered against them.
