Panaji: With an average of 20,000 people who receive Covid-19 vaccines every day, the state has given the first dose to 62% of 18+ populations, said epidemiology Dr.
Rajendra Borkar.
Goa has a population that qualifies around 11 lakh people, where 62% have received the first dose.
“Fifteen percent of them have been fully vaccinated, the response is very good,” he told Toi.
The state plans to cover all populations that meet the requirements with the first dose on July 31, he said.
The government has sufficient vaccination centers, and does not plan to add more.
“We are not a large population.
We already have 46 permanent vaccination centers and 198 satellite centers until the last point.
The centers have sufficient capacity to vaccinate people,” he said.
“We only need people to come, and order representatives to bring people out,” he said.
“If we find that there are 50-100 people in a very remote area, we will go and vaccinate them,” he said.
Vaccine doubts are also being handled.
“We continue to relate to religious leaders and opinion makers, trying to convince people to take vaccines.
There is nothing to be feared.
About 32 doses of Crore have been given throughout the country.
This should be enough to convince people.
This is not a small number and they are good – OK.
There is no reason to worry, “he said.
During the second wave, the majority of Covid-19 deaths were not vaccinated.
“We found that the severity of infection on those who were vaccinated with both very low doses, hospitalization was also low, and his death was minimal.
This is not only in Goa, but throughout India and the world.
This has been proven by data,” he said.
Vaccinations of old houses are being carried out by their respective health centers, he said.
The problem of door-to-door vaccination for senior citizens or disabled people who cannot access vaccination centers was raised in the High Court when hearing pills in Covid and preparation for the third wave.
Advocate General assured the court that would see how this problem could be handled, and would respond before the next hearing on July 12.
The High Court has directed the country’s authority to make all-out efforts and ensure that most populations are vaccinated.
