Trichy: Wardwise voter data from Trichy City Corporation has thrown interesting facts about changes that have occurred after restrictions, such as modified limits and environmental allotments for each zone.
It was also revealed that 64 out of a total of 65 wards at City Corporation now have more women’s voters than men.
According to data, the Ward number Six in the Srirangam zone which includes Periyar Nagar and a side by side including Aibea Nagar in Thiruvanaikail has the maximum number of voters in the city, 14,625.
Ward number 16 in Ariyamangalam zone consisted of Ariyamangalam, Sanjeevi Nagar and Viswas Nagar in the old Palpannai with 9,053 voters at least.
Trichy Corporation officials said that before the restriction process, a population of 9.16 lakh (such as the 2011 census) spread disproportionately with one ward that had 40,000 people and others with 16,000.
With restriction training in 2019 overcoming such irregularities, every ward now has around 15,000 to 16,000 people with some exceptions.
This exercise also modifies ward rations for each zone.
Srirangam and K Abishekapuram who have 15 wards have previously been given 16 wards now.
Ariyamangalam zone which has 18 wards before now has 16 while the Ponmalai zone has maintained 17 of his people.
When the City Administration Department has also proposed to increase the total zone of four to five, officials say that changes will be made after local body selection.
“After the mayor and representative of the elected mayor, we will form a new zone and some wards will be moved there,” Senior Official with Trichy Corporation added.
According to environmental election data, between zones, K Abishekapuram with a little more than two Lakh voters have the biggest voters while Ariyamangalam with 1.8 lakh has the lowest.
There are 140 transgender voters in the city, most of them live in the Ariyamangalam zone.
The revised wardwise selection database is helping parties to plan campaigns at grassroots levels such as prioritizing roads that have maximum voters.
