65-year-old man dies as a bus hits a bicycle in Setu Vidyasagar

Kolkata: Biker died and his arms suffered a serious injury after being hit by a private bus near the toll plaza on Setu Vidyasagar on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as a hutait soument (65).
Pillion Rider, Tapan Bose (63) from Ramrajatala, has been treated at the center of the SSKM trauma, where the condition is declared critical.
The police said they were wearing a helmet.
The bus driver managed to escape after the accident.
The locals say the bus on the route city of Santragachhi-New is very fast and hit the bicycle from behind, throwing riders to the ground.
The locals accused them of calling the police but no one arrived.
But Vidyasagar traffic guards and police Hasting claimed that they had reached a place on time and rushed the victims to the SSKM hospital.
The police did not say how the accident took place but local residents claimed that the bus driver suddenly stepped above the accelerator regardless of the bike in front of him.
Police said CCTV recordings could help them learn about the event chain that led to the accident.
Officer Lalbazar, worried about the recurrence of an accident at Vidyasagar Setu, has asked for a fatal troops of traffic police to find if more stringent charges can be slapped on the driver.
The accident occurred several hours after the charge sheet was filed in court against the mini-bus driver who had used a driving rash, leading to the death of the police at the Red Road 40 days ago.
