654% Field Field: DVAC RAIDS TN Former Minister

Chennai: The Directorate of Precautions and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday searching for 35 places, including two locations in Bengaluru and six in Chennai, allegedly related to the former commercial tax minister K C C Veeramani in cases of disproportionate assets.
Business companies and residence of their relatives and close colleagues are also sought.
According to FIR submitted by Detachment Vellore from DVAC on Wednesday, the former minister of the property in the Tirupatttur district has collected Rs 28.78 assets worth of crore from April 2016 to 31 March 2021 (DVAC examination period) which is 654% more than revealing.
Some assets recorded as illegally obtained are registered with their mother’s name, the agency said.
“The assets acquired by him and those who on behalf of his mother and dependents should not exceed Rs 1.83 Crore during the period,” DVAC said.
DVAC has used data stated by Veeramani in its election affidavits in 2016 and 2021 to arrive at the quantum of disproportionate assets.
The asset at the beginning of the examination period in April 2016 was appreciated by Rs 26 Crore.
In five years, the value of assets grew to Rs 56.6 Crore.
While the income obtained by Veeramani and its dependents for this period is Rs 4.39 Crore, the expenditure is Rs 2.56 Crore, DVAC said, explaining the calculation of disproportionate assets.
DVAC said the father who had died Veeramani, K K Chinnarasu was running the company of Beedi ‘KK Chinnarasu and Sons’ in Jolarpet and his former ministers and siblings, Alzagiri and Kamaraj, while managing it.
The family also operates the Tipper Lorry transportation business on behalf of ‘Say Transports’.
DVAC said the agency conducted a search on Chennai-based property related to Veeramani in Leith Castle Utara in Santhome, Sivananda Silai in Gill Nagar, Choolaimedu, Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar, and on Jalan Murugankoil in Kolathur.
The case in preventing corruption and parts related to criminal violations has been registered with it.
According to DVAC, RS 34.01 lakh in cash, Rs 1.8 lakh worth US dollars, nine luxury cars including rolls Royce, five computer hard discs, 4,987 kg of gold jewelry, 47gm diamond jewelry, 7.2kg silver articles, book pass, and property documents found during search.
Relevant cash, materials and documents with this case were confiscated and 275 units of sand worth RS 30 lakh found in the Veeramani housing premise, DVAC said.
The investigation is still on.
