Bhubaneswar: Rural polls will be held as many as 6,794 grams of panthayats early next year compared to 6,801 where the selection was held in 2017.
The number of Panchayats has decreased this time because seven of them have been combined into a newly informed council (NAC).
While four Panchayats have been abolished in Remuna blocks in Ballasore District for the creation of NAC Remuna, two Panchayats in the Odagaon Block in Nayagarh Regency has been abolished for NAC Odagaon new.
Likewise, one Pancrayat in Block Bawbepur has been eliminated for the formation of Nac Bawbepur, said the State Election Commission (SEC) Secretary Rabindra Sahu.
The number of wards where the election will also have fallen due to the creation of new NACs.
This election will be held at 91,916 Bangsal compared to 92,027 in Pancrayat 2017 polls .
While a total of 953 seats Zilla Parishad will conduct polls during the upcoming polls, 148 seats are provided for scheduled caste candidates, 218 seats for scheduled tribes and 104 seats for the nomination owned by the community.
Because Odisha has ordered at least 50% of seats in all categories for women, as many as 433 seats Zilla Parishad will be provided for female candidates.
Likewise, Panchayats 3,500 grams will be led by women, while 3,538 Samiti and 49,469 members of the environment will become women.
But even though the OBC population contributed nearly 50% of the total population of the country, not one chair Zilla Parishad in 14 districts had been provided for OBC candidates.
The State poll panel has begun the process of preparing a roll of environmental elections (voter list) for the election of Panchayat, which will be ready in mid-December.
