6,810 applications throughout TN to set the Cracker store

Chennai: The fire department and rescue have received 6,810 applications from traders across the state to install the Cracker store for Diwali.
Of these, the department has not issued a certificate of objection to 6,111 applications after supervision.
Chennai has 890 applicants, followed by Coimbatore (703) and Salem (520 stores).
At least 285 applications are rejected and 414 applications are awaiting approval, said source.
Last year, the fire department and rescue received 6,109 applications.
From them, officials issued NOC to 5,783 traders to sell crackers, while 326 applications were cut when they violated the norms prescribed by firefighting personnel.
In Chennai Suburban, the Komisarier Expanded by Chennai has received 210 applications, Chennai South received 362 applications, Central received the application 196 and 132 coming from Chennai North.
At least 11 applications have been rejected in the city and 160 applications are awaiting approval.
Of the 25 other districts that exclude Chennai City, Coimbatore and Salem, Cuddalore District has received 353 applications, Erode (300), Virudhu Nagar (368), Pulajottai (288), Nagapatinnam (293), Tharvur (254), Namakkal (275) , and Tiruppur (224).
There were only 18 traders from Kanyakumari who were approaching firefighters to install cracker shops.
This was attended by the Tenkasi District that received 20 applications.
Fire extinguisher and rescue Director of Personnel and DGP Karan Singha held a meeting with senior firefighters to take stock situation.
A senior fire officer said, “We expect 1,000 more applications, because our people work all the time to delete all the delayed applications.”
