69,000 students serve midday food in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: School children are served with hot and fresh food on Thursday because of the midday eating program after a 18-month gap in Dakshina Kannada.
Some schools also prepare sweet dishes to mark the commencement of the program.
Usha M, Executive Officer, Akshara Dasoha, Dakshina Kannada, told TII that as many as 69,000 students were served with midday food in the district on Thursday.
Because the supply of food ingredients is delayed, the school has been asked to buy it locally until the department supplys them to them.
The response to midday food is better and all Covid-19 SOPs are followed.
Shambhu Shankar, Coordinator, Block Resource Center, Belthangady Taluk said that all SOPs were strictly followed during midday eating to avoid crowding.
“Some schools also prepared extra dishes like Mysuru, Pakasam, and Laddoos to mark the beginning of the midday eating program after 18 months,” Shambhu said.
