6K Police on Jalan, 200 Checkpost

Gurgaon: The police have changed the city to the fort ahead of the celebration of independence day.
Nearly 200 checkpost has been arranged throughout the city and more than 6,000 personnel have been deployed.
All border points with Delhi and adjoining districts are under strict supervision and heavy vehicle movements have been limited to August 15.
Sources say the ongoing farmer protest and the threat of violence issued by pro-Khalistan clothing which is prohibited by ‘Sikh for Justice’ (SFJ) is behind intensive security settings.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya is the main guest for I-Day celebrations in Gurgaon and SFJ sympathizers may take advantage of farmer protests to create problems, said sources.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, SFJ’s own head based in the US-based SFJ, allegedly issued a threat to the head of Minister Manohar Lal Khattar last week and urged people not to lift tricolor or participate in the celebration of independence day.
A pine has been registered against Pannu on charges of incitement and separation at the Bhondsi police station.
The Haryana Special Task Force has submitted a similar case against him last year.
However, Gurgaon police have underestimated the threat issued by Pannu, said the security arrangement before the independence day was “routine”.
“All areas side by side with the national capital, including Gurgaon, remain vigilant before the day of independence day and the Republican for various reasons.
We cannot leave anything to coincidence,” said a senior police officer.
Commissioner of Police K K Raim said that in addition to 68 permanent checkpoints, all Gurgaon police stations have been directed to install two checkpoints each in their respective regions.
This checkpoint has been set on the city border.
Traffic police will also install checkpoints at the main intersection and strategic points.
“We have made complicated security settings,” said Rao.
DCP (traffic) Ravinder Singh Tomar said they had limited heavy vehicle movements.
“To ensure a smooth traffic flow and there is no discomfort for commuting, heavy vehicles are being transferred,” Tomar said.
A heavy vehicle that came from the side of the Jaipur on the NH-8 was being transferred in Sidhrawali and Pachgaon before they entered the city.
Those who come from Gurgaon and head to other areas other than Delhi diverted to routes alternately at various points on the KMP – Kheri Toll Roadway, Shankar Chowk, Dhankot T-Point, Garhi Harsharu Chowk and Bajera.
The diversion kicked from Tuesday night and will remain valid until August 15.
On Friday morning, the traffic movement slowed on the Sirhaul border due to strict inspection on Delhi’s side, causing vehicle tailback to about 1 km.
“Delhi police examined almost every vehicle, which caused congestion and tailbacks.
I was trapped in a jam for about 40 minutes,” said Harish Sharma, a resident of sector 14.
