Noida: Seven people on Thursday were arrested in connection with the murder of the Ola taxi driver after armed robbery in May.
The police only restored the Swift engine that he used to drive while other vehicle parts were sold to the Scrap dealer.
The victim, was identified as Harvesh Singh (35), owned by KasGanj and worked as a driver with a private taxi aggregator in Noida.
According to the police, four were accused – Rahul, Abid Khan, Sonu and Shivam – had ordered a taxi through the application on May 26.
After they reached their destination in the phase 3 area, the defendant had robbed his cellphone, a wallet and vehicle and then killed him.
His body was found five days later.
“On July 11, Brother Singh, Ravnesh filed a complaint to Jhansi’s police against unknown people.
This case was transferred to us this week and the probe was launched,” said Noida DCP Harish Chander.
“Rahul, who had ordered a taxi, Nabbed near Sector 62.
After that, Abid, Sonu and Shivam were arrested from Delhi,” he added.
Three other people – Sudama Dutt Sharma, Shamshuddin, Mohammad Umeed – used to work as a car dealer and memo dealer and arrested from Ghaziabad, Chander said.
“As long as it was questioned, it appeared that Rahul, Abid, Sonu and Shivam, all of Jhansi, had ordered a taxi and robbed Singh before killing him.
They told the police that they owed and needed to make money quickly,” he said.
“Rahul then sell Swift to the three memo dealers of Rs 50,000, which then sells more car parts.
The body of the vehicle is sent as a memo and only the machine left,” said DCP.
The seven men were ordered below the IPC 302 section (punishment for murder), 201 (causing loss of evidence of violations or providing false information to serve the perpetrators), 394 (voluntarily cause injured in carrying out robbery), 411 (dishonestly accepting the property of stolen) and 413 (usually dealing with stolen properties).
They were sent to Judicial detention 14 days after being produced in court.
