Lucknow: Seven people were killed and the other two were injured in three separate wall and roof incidents after heavy rains in the Sitapur district, located almost 50 km from Lucknow.
Uttar Pradesh Head of Yogi Minister Adyityanh promised the loss of life in the incident and directed officials to reach the place to provide assistance to the victims.
In the first incident reported from Lakminpur Village, four people, were identified as Lalli Devi (50), Shailendra (10), Shiva (8) and Neeraj (2), belonging to the same family, died when the wall and warehouse tin collapsed to them because rainfall.
In the second incident reported from the Nankari Village, Ram Lotan (42) and his wife Anita (38) died after the wall collapsed on them.
In the third incident, a 60-year-old man in the Consultation Police Office was killed after the roof of the straw fell on him because of heavy rainfall.
“All bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” said the police supervisor, Sitapur.
The SSP also said that the local police team along with the district administration conducted rescue operations and those who were injured had been hospitalized.
“The SDRF and PAC unit has also been pressed into services to carry out rescue operations and assistance,” added SSP.
The Sitapur District Administration also announced the compensation of Rs 4 Lakh for the next relatives of each of the deceased.
