AJMER: Illegal Stone Mine collapsed in Bhilwara Regency on Wednesday, killing seven workers, including three women.
The mine is in the land Noor Mohammad in Lachuda Village from the district block and operated by one Sangram Singh.
After the incident, the Shiv District Collector Parsad M Nakate and Bhilwara SP Vikas Sharma along with the police team rushed to the place and began saving operations that lasted late at night.
According to witnesses, mud from the nearest field collapsed into the illegal mine where the workers worked in the afternoon.
Initially, it was feared about 50 workers trapped in a collapsed mine, but later it was found that only seven were in the mine.
The police brought JCBS and excavators for rescue operations and bodies found about 80 feet under mud.
The villagers said that all the workers who died were tribes.
The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Bheel (21), Kanya Rama (23), Prahlad Bhaat (18), Dharma Bhaat (25), Meena Bheel (21), all residents of Kameri Village; And Meena Bheel (18) and Hingla Bhaat (20) from the village of Kateda.
According to police Bhilwara, the illegal stone mine was being operated in the field of Noor Mohamed in Lachuda Village by Sangram Singh.
Cl Sharma’s sub-division officer said that a FIR was registered against Noor Mohammad, among others, and that the government had decided to seize land.
He said the defendant had previously run the mine illegally and there was FIR who submitted it at the Asind Police Station.
Administration has requested permission to announce assistance for families who died, he said.
The source said that officials had been directed by the Mining Department to provide a list of all mines carried out illegally in the district and to take immediate action against the operator.
