Daltonganj: Seven girls, all children underage and three of them are sisters, have sunk in a pond in waste districts while doing rituals of Puja Karma, a tribal festival.
The incident occurred in Mananandeeh Teach in Bukru Village under Sergara Panchayat from the Balumath police station area on Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Minister Hemant Soren and State President BJP Deepak Prakash on Saturday declared shocked at the incident.

At the time of this sadness, condolences to the grieving family.” Aftab Alam Baluman Circle Officers said three victims, Rekha (18), Rina (11) and Laxmi (8), are the sisters and daughters of Ganjhu Aklu.
The fourth deceased was identified as Sushma Kumari (7), Princess Charan Ganju; Meena (8), Putri Laldev Ganjhu; Pinim Kumari (15), daughter of Jagan Ganjhu, and Sunita Kumari (17), the daughter of the late Bifa Ganjhu.
The girls went to the pool early in the morning because of soaking branch branches as part of a puja.
The locals said the seventh of them drowned one by one when they stepped into the pool.
Because early in the morning, no one around to help them immediately.
Then, some boys pay attention to them and rushed to help but five of the girls had died while two were taken out unaware.
“Both of them were in a hurry together with the other five to the Balumath public health center but the doctors said they were taken dead,” said nature.
The circle officer also said the bodies were sent to a conscious hospital for Post Mortem after getting approval from their respective parents.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Abu Imran has directed a civil surgeon, Dr.
H C Mahto, to establish a medical board of three members to do Post Mortem, after the panel consisting of Akhilesh Prasad, AK Orya and the day of Om Prasad was formed.
Expressing the sadness of the incident, Soren tweeted, “shocked to sink and the death of seven girls in waste.
May they rest calmly and hopefully family members to get the power to bear the pain …” State President of BJP Deepak Prakash while expressing sadness urging the state government Section to announce compensation for grieving families.
“The government of Hemant Soren must announce the assistance of EX Gratia at least RS 10 lakh each for the relatives of the victims,” he said.
