Ghaziabad: Special Pocso Court on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old man to a lifetime imprisonment for rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in the Gerbang Sihani area in 2014.
It also imposed a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh, out where Rs 75,000 will be given to the girl’s parents.
According to complaints submitted on October 25, 2014 at the Police Station Gate Sihani by the girl’s father, he had lost the night before.
“The man then learned of the people in the area seen by the child with neighbors, Subodh.
When he went to Subodh’s house, found locked.
When the door was forced to open, the man found his daughter lying dead with the gap of his throat,” the prosecutor said Special General (Act Pocso) Satish Sharma.
Based on his complaint, a FIR was registered against Subodh under the IPC section 364, 376 and 302 and Section 3 and 4 of the protection of children from sexual violations (Pocso) acted at the Gate Sihani police station.
Seven eyewitnesses gave their statement on behalf of prosecution.
While looking for the maximum sentence for accused, the public prosecutor stated that he often visited the girl’s house and two shared family ties.
“Such violations are against the dignity of women and are dangerous for civilized people.
The defendant must get a maximum punishment,” Sharma added.
Special Judge (Act Pocso) Ishwar Singh found subodh guilty for kidnapping, rape and murder.
He was sentenced to life under the part of the IPC 376A (rape) and 302 (murder).
The fine of RS 1 Lakh was implemented under the IPC 302 section.
The court also gave a strict prison department of 10 years and a fine of RS 50,000 under the IPC section 364 (kidnapping).
All sentences will go together.
The defendant has been submitted in the Dasna Jail since his arrest immediately after the crime and the time spent in prison will be adjusted to the last punishment.
