Nagpur: A study of city women, where more than 1,000 between the 20-75-year-old group participated, has shown that almost 70% are under pressure and worry about the health of their family members, financial problems and the future when approaching 27%, Including the mother who hopes that the visit missed to the hospital for routine checks during Covid.
More than 50% of pregnant women feel that their delivery can be normal, not a c-part that has no pandemic.
Studies by the Obstetrics and Gynecological Department of Sengupta Hospital and Research Institutions have interesting observations about the knowledge, attitudes and practices of women regarding Covid.
Recently, this research has been received by the International Journal of Medical Science and Inovative Research (IJMSIR).
“The main objective is to study the basic knowledge and attitude of the women’s baseline to Covid and to correlate socio-demographics with their practice.
Overall, 1,008 women are included in this study,” said Senior Gynecologist Dr.
Rajasi Senguta, one of the research writers.
“We observed that women had overall acceptable knowledge of the main clinical symptoms, transmission routes, prevention methods of Covid.
But they have little knowledge about vaccination policies,” he added.
Dr.
Suvarna Nimkar and Dr.
Suchitra UIKEY was a partner of the research writer.
This study gives a message that doctors must be ready to handle complex cases because many women skip clinic appointments during peak pandemic.
This study suggested the need for detailed counseling by doctors regarding the importance of vaccination, especially in pregnant and lactating women.
Mental health assistance must be given to vulnerable groups because there has been an increase in fear, depression and social and domestic violence.
Emphasis on common follow-up is needed for early detection of covid sequel or ‘long covid syndrome’.
This study states that younger women have more knowledge than the elderly and follow better Covid practices.
