70% of the wasted irrigation water: Mohapatra

Hisar: poor management leads to waste about 70% of irrigation water, said Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General, Indian Agricultural Research Council (ICAR) and Secretary, Research and Agricultural Education Department.
Overcoming farmers after the inauguration of Krishi Mela (Rabi) was organized by Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, Mohapatra said water was an important source for agriculture.
So, farmers must adopt techniques developed by agricultural scientists to stop waste of water and use enhanced varieties of different plants as much as possible.
Krishi Mela (Rabi) was held offline for the first time after two years.
However, Mohapatra joined online as a major guest.
During the exhibition, a progressive farmer from each respected district for the best work done in the agricultural sector.
Mohapatra said in a state such as Haryana, the waste of such a large water was a matter of worries.
Because of the increasing water consumption, the amount of water for the agricultural sector decreases.
Because of over-groundwater exploitation in the area of the rice cycle of rice, the surface of the water continues to thin.
Therefore, the availability of water for agriculture appears as a major problem.
If the exploitation of natural resources continues this way, then in the future in Haryana, people may face lack of acute clean water to drink and there is a possibility of a 30% reduction in agricultural production, he said.
Professor Hau VC BR Camboup said, “We must save every drop of water.
We need better use of water resources, the development of river flows, rainwater harvesting and the right water management by adopting advanced techniques.
Use Drop Water with Drop And to do so by adopting methods such as underground pipes, drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation.
Natural resources from small countries such as Israel are not compatible with agriculture, but the country is at the forefront of modern agriculture in the world.
To use water, our farmers too must adopt droplets and other irrigation techniques developed by Israel.
