Bengaluru: The transportation department on Saturday booked several taxis connected with Ola and Uber at Kempegowda International Airport because they did not update the aggregator license taxi.
The source said the Ola license ended in June 2021 and Uber in December 2021.
While the two taxi aggregators submitted a license update, the Department of Transportation had not yet issued it.
L Narendra Holkar, an additional commissioner of transportation (enforcement), said: “Good Ola and Uber licenses have expired.
They apply for updates but there are some brief arrivals in their application.
It is illegal to run Ola and Uber taxis in the city,” he said, added to them order cases against 70 taxis.
“Most of the driver is an unconscious license has expired.
We have decided to intensify the hard action.
If needed, we will seize the vehicle,” Holkar said.
The airport taxi driver held a protest against the drive.
Shaik Salauddin, National Secretary General, the Federation of Indian application-based transportation workers, said the department won several Ola / Uber taxis in Kia Road.
Ola and Uber are not available for comments.
Both of them received a license from the department to run a taxi in the city in 2016 under Karnataka Rules of the Transportation Technology Agregator on demand, 2016.
“Why is the driver being harassed when the company has not renewed a license? The government must send legal notice to the aggregator,” said Saladin.
